After The Explosions
After the Explosions consist of David O' Brien (vox, guitars,
synths), Noel Traynor (guitars, textures), Garry Toner
(keys, synths, backing vox), and Dave Hanratty (drums).
This unlikely four piece have been screeching and clattering
since January of 2008 and although they are relatively
new to the Irish live-circuit the band have in that time
crafted their din into a sound that has become uniquely
their own.
Presently they are difficult to pigeonhole into a single
genre: at first they appear a straight heavy-rock band
but listen closer and more alternative elements become
apparent bringing to mind such bands as Joy Division,
Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails. After the Explosions throw
a little something extra of their own into the mix however
as they combine heavy and melodic vocals, textured guitars,
piano and synths and a cacophony of drums, creating
a powerful and complex sound that stands defiantly apart.
Their fiery, exciting and energetic live performances
are infectious and not to be missed.
Recently the band has enjoyed success in the international
music festival Emergenza and have performed in some of
the top venues in Dublin including the Village, Whelans,
the Button Factory and Vicar St. The four-piece are currently
working hard on finishing their debut EP, which is due
for release later in the year. |
