Attica Static
Attica Static was formed in 2006 when four closely knit
friends decided that their shared love for music, and
in particular ‘Incubus’, would be enough reason
to start a band. With Sam Fairman on guitar, Stephen McKeown
on bass, Kris Rogers on drums and Darren Kierans taking
charge of vocal duties, the band then under the name of
Hotcarl prospered and went through the ranks in Dundalk
and surrounding areas. Sam being the creative engine behind
the band, he drove the band on to bigger and better things,
and given his unique musical background, he continued
to pour everything he had into writing the most impressive
riffs and song structures around today. On top of that,
the inclusion of Joe Furlong sparked an instant spur of
song writing and their sound developed into something
more, taking together more diverse types of music from
each member of the band. Since then, Joe has left the
band and the band took a long break from performing but
continued to experiment and write music together. Attica
Static was the name chosen to represent a new chapter
in how the band was to be seen, doing away with the old
name 'Hotcarl', they've created a altogether unique sound
taking together the style and panache of Incubus, the
raw power and energy of At The Drive In, and the catchy
rock hooks of Muse, to name but a few. The band, now all
20 years of age, sees itself as a totally new prospect,
starting from scratch in August 2009 and giving everything
for all their potential to be reached.
It’s Alt Rock with a difference, that difference
being Sam’s unique song direction, not to mention
a talented rhythm section to back him up. Top that with
catchy and soaring vocals and you've got Attica Static. |
