THE BOB DYLAN BAND: featuring JBlack.

We come together to celebrate the musical legacy of the icon that is Mr Bob Dylan.
Since the 1960's, we have been spoilt by the prodigious output of this legend and the quality of his song-writing has garnered multiple awards, culminating in the ultimate recognition of the Nobel prize in Literature in 2016, "For having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".
No matter what decade you choose, there is a favourite album or a bunch of songs that means something of significance to many followers and what the Bob Dylan Band aim to achieve is a sense of these songs throughout his long history. Drawing from solo acoustic renditions of songs such as "Blowing in the Wind", "The Times They Are a Changing" and "A Hard Rain a-Gonna' Fall" and arrangements of full band songs, such as "Tangled Up in Blue" and "Like a Rolling Stone"; the Bob Dylan Band also include versions of songs performed with the Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton and Bruce Springsteen.
The "Last Waltz" marked a chapter in Dylan's distinguished career and two songs from the Band, ("The Nights They Drove Old Dixie Down" and "The Weight") are included in the set list.
The show is completed with songs from the more recent albums such as Oh Mercy, Modern Times, and Together through Life, along with a selection of Dylan's great work with The Travelling Wilburys.

JBlack:
The creative source for this tribute band is Mr JBlack, a musical maestro who has been involved since the early 2000's in developing as a true artisan in this genre. In 2005 he began working with Real Diamond to bring alive the music of Neil Diamond and he also became involved in a Simon & Garfunkel project.
In 2007, he formed "The Stones" (www.thestones.co.uk) who are now recognized as one of the greatest tribute acts in Europe. After moving to Ireland in 2009, he came across a band working on the music of the Bee Gees and this resulted in "The Bee Gees Story - Nights on Broadway" (www.nightsonbroadway.net). As musical director, JBlack has guided the band in performing the Gibb Brothers' music to packed theatres across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.
JBlack maintains, a tribute show can be considered as a true art form by understanding and connecting with the soul of the original, adding something of your own self, and working on it 24/7 in order to make the result something unique.

Jimmy has been playing guitar since he was seven years old, initially with his father's dance bands, and later when his growing interest in rock and blues led him to form his own band at school. Around this time, Jimmy was asked to join Thin Lizzy as a replacement for guitarist Brian Robertson.
Although flattered, he declined, as he was just about to release an album with his band The Bogey Boys, with whom he played from 1979 to 1983, recording several singles and two albums together.
Jimmy then turned his hand to production, making albums for The Spirit of Eden, Bonnie Tyler, Toni Childs, Rob Strong, Don Baker and Frances Black. He's also recorded and played with Roger Daltrey, Curtis Stigers, Chaka Khan, Lisa Stansfield, Van Morrison and Reba McEntire.
Jimmy has been Musical Director for RTE TV shows, and regularly performs with the RTE Concert Orchestra, the RTESO, The Ulster Orchestra and many others. He has composed music for the movies 'When the Sky Falls' (2000) and 'Silent Grace' (2002), and for 'The Fellowship of The Ring' video game (2003).

John (The Cap) - Bass Guitar
Since the age of 16 John has been playing bass with professional bands all over the world. Having served his time with some of the best showband musicians as a young bass player in the seventies, playing in rock bands in the eighties and spending many years as a session player in recording studios in the nineties, John became a versatile player in many genres of music during his career.
Currently touring with Nights On Broadway his playing skills and experience complement the many styles of the Bee Gees over the years, keeping the essential groove during the Nights On Broadway concerts.

The Bob Dylan Band celebrates the music of Bob Dylan through a totally live concert experience, great musicians exploring great material.
Jimmy and Jason have the unique experience of working alongside Bob Dylan himself, gaining great insight into the man and his creative muse, and they use their exceptional talent to interpret Bob Dylan's music with great perception.
Alongside his other work, JBlack has been developing the Bob Dylan show for a number of years. After some early one-man performances, which tested the concept of a show , he has continued to hone his skills on the harmonica, explore the many different tunings on the guitars, utilize the latest in technology, and developed his voice to better communicate the astounding songs of Bob Dylan. He has now taken the next step and formed THE BOB DYLAN BAND.
