The Fontanels
The Fontanels are an organically grown-original quintet
of funk inspired madness! Born, bred and watered in
that great, giddy garrison town of Dundalk it has moulded
them into the band they have become. Fondly referred
to by themselves as Two brothers, Two Lovers and
a Man Machine they consist of Gavin and Ciarán
Wynne, Vox and guitar virtuosos extraordinaire,
Paddy The Basshunter Martin and Shalom Coburn,
Keys and harmony-inspired voice, and the reverend Ian
Drum Machine Harold, a man they say has
drumsticks for bones! They are influenced by jelly-legged
rock, frenzied ferverous funk, face melting jazz and
soul, post-punk, psychedelia, harmony-laden pop and
just about anything thats a little skewed or not
what youd expect!
Anything form Jimi Hendrix to Talking Heads, Steely
Dan to Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone to Prince, their influences
are big, very big. HUGE!
Together in their current state but a mere year, they
have gigged many times in Dublin and various venues
across the North East. After taking a sojourn to write,
record and perfect their debut EP it is time for its
release.
We Are The Fontanels is a 5-track EP aimed
to show you what theyre all about. Its varied
in its style and catchy to the point of extreme, its
guaranteed to have you sitting up to listen.
It can be heard on their website www.myspace.com/thefontanels
