Valediction

Valediction is a melodic metal band based in Dublin.
The band plays a technical style of metal strong on riffs, melody & solos; with a dark edge and symphonic leanings.
Valediction was formed in 2005 by guitarists Graham Foster and Cillian Waters.
The band steadily recruited members over the following two years, with the addition of Kevin Byrne on bass later that year and Robert Voigt and Kevin Fox in 2006 on Keys and Drums, respectively.
The initial lineup of the band was completed in 2007 with the addition of Lar Fraser on vocals.
The band's live debut came about in support of Mass Extinction at the album release gig for their 'Creations Undoing' EP in October 2007.
The band gigged extensively around Ireland for the next two years, sharing the stage with a mixture of other Irish bands and international acts.
In 2008 Valediction supported Thurisaz at 2 of their 3 gigs in Ireland (Dublin and Cork), Vreid in Dublin and later in the same year Valediction supported Firewind and Kiuas at their gig in Whelans (Dublin).
Valediction performed at Cork Winterfest 2008 alongside such bands as Amon Amarth, Skyclad, Mourning Beloveth and Mass Extinction.
In early 2009 the band parted ways with Lar Fraser and begun auditions for a new lead vocalist.
Martin O'Hanrahan was eventually chosen as the band's new frontman and the band subsequently pursued a darker, heavier sound with the change to growled vocals.
As of 2009 the band is working on its next demo and eagerly returning to regular gigging.
