Participant is Stephen Tiernan, a song writer and producer from Dublin, Ireland. At it's core Participant is fragile and emotionally direct songwriting, wrapped within a sonic armour of layered samples and textures. Emerging in winter 2014 with his debut, 'Bit Slow', Tiernan has become known for his considered recordings, stunning music videos, and experimental live performances.

'Content', his second EP, was mixed by Ber Quinn (Villagers, John Grant) and released in November 2015. Lead track 'A Change' premiered on The 405 as single of the week, with the EP receiving rave reviews from Hotpress Magazine, The Last Mixed Tape,, Goldenplec, and coverage in The Irish Times as Nialler9's New Artist of the Week. 'Content' was followed by stand-alone single 'Leave Me Here' in April and a headline show at Dublin's Workman's Club.

Since the release, Tiernan has played support for international acts such as Alice Phoebe Lou, The Drink, Lambert and performed at festivals including Another Love Story, Body & Soul, Castlepalooza, and Hard Working Class Heroes.

Tiernan is currently finishing a second collaboration with award-winning video director Bob Gallagher (Girl Band, Soak, Saint Sister) for his next single due in mid-January 2017 and planning the release of a limited edition cassette. Entitled 'Sampler' and due in March, Side A is a compilation of his singles to date and a brand new song entitled 'Next Year'. Side B contains a sample library featuring some of the sounds, oddities, and noises from Tiernan's personal collection.
