Toshin
Dublin soul-infused pop-funk sextet 'Toshín' are set to release their Debut EP 'Get Your Life'  on the 14th of February, 2020. It is their biggest and most exciting release to date. “Knock Knock” is the lead single from this EP, and will be released on the 24?th? of January  along with a music video.    Toshín will embark on an Irish Tour to promote the EP in February and March.

Having released a handful of singles since the band's inception in 2016,'GetYourLife' is the band's proudest work so far. Their collective songwriting reached new heights on this release, as these musicians forged a close relationship and got consistently tighter through gigging around Ireland and the UK the last few years.

The EP features five tracks, including one interlude. The lead single, “Knock Knock”, was co-written by guitarist Taran Plouzane and lead singer Tosin Bankole. The song is a commentary on a woman's struggles with mental health, partly disguised as a break-up song.

"Knock Knock" for me is about struggling through a bad mental health episode. The song has a darkness to it, not just lyrically but also within the music. It has some more upbeat sections, however, that represent how music got me through those bad times. It's a really therapeutic song to sing live!”

The EP was recorded by Rob Kennedy in his studio in Donabate, Co. Dublin. It was co-produced by Zapho (Ele Breslin) and the band themselves. Zapho also co-wrote lyrics for two of the songs, “Eat, Sleep, Sex, Desire” and “Seriously”.

Founded in 2016, Toshín have evolved over the last three years into the vibrant 6-piece it is today. Taking inspiration from a variety of music spanning from early Motown to modern soul / RnB artists such as Tank and the Bangas and Anderson. Paak, their original songs can be put into an incredibly wide range of genres. This is thanks to lead vocalist Tosin Bankole, guitarist Taran Plouzane-Brady and help from various collaborators, including Lisa Rogers (Girlfriend) and Ele Breslin (Zapho).

Their exhilarating live shows span from chilled out, heartfelt soul to all-out James Brown-esque funky goodness, and is guaranteed to have any crowd dancing. Over the last few years, Toshín have played some amazing shows and festivals including Beat Yard festival (2019), Electric Picnic (2019), Body & Soul Mainstage (2019), and Music Makers Festival UK (2019). They have played a headline shows in the Workmans for a single launch, Sin E for their 3rd birthday party, alongside Munky in Lost Lane, and alongside Shookrah in the Kino in Cork.

Toshín have released four singles to date: “Boy Listen”, “We Don't Share Blood”, “Love in Defeat” and “Girl Go Off”. Their debut EP? G e t Y o u r Li f e will be released on the 14th of February 2020. Lead single of the EP, “Knock Knock,” will be released January 24th alongside a music video.
