Jinx Lennon sings of the factories, blind eyed border inhabitants, head the ball teachers of his past, the beauty and ugliness (in the same breath) of the border urban landscape, the things that make the workday transcendent for mental happiness, a cracked eyed view of family life all done to uplift himself so he can raise up the audience at hand. Seen recently at Fish Town at Electric Picnic 2026 and All Together Now 2026 the Jinx show is like going to mass without the finger pointing. In a word it is joyous without all the new age slobber Jinx has been writing and recording music since 1980 and he was involved in a number of underground Dundalk bands from 1985 to 1999 including Sneaky Pete and the Ostrich, Zen emeralds, Siver Seeds, Novena Babes, The Frocks. Jinx went solo in 1999. Recently featured in Dennis Harvey and Lars Loven's "Celtic Utopia" movie about the rawer side of Irish folk music Jinx Lennon songs are now standard in the pubs of Belfast including "Newry Bird" and "We don't see Anything" which was recently covered by Ronan O'Snodaigh and Myles O'Reilly on their latest album. ‘The hate agents leer at the last isle of hope’


Jinx Lennon’s tremendously titled new album is mightily comparable to Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood with its epic ambition, magnificent wordplay and the erudite eye of its omniscient narrator.
The singer’s capacity for channelling a multitude of characters into bite-sized chunks is marvellous, and a patchwork of citizenry from his hometown of Dundalk is wonderfully depicted here. Flann O’Brien, John Cooper Clarke and Mark E. Smith usually enter the conversation when discussing Jinx Lennon, and they’re definitive touchstones on this record 9/10
